US President Donald Trump has granted a one-month exemption to auto tariffs on Mexico and Canada.

This was stated by White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt, who gave some details during a press conference with the media at the White House.

โ€œWe spoke with the three giants of auto sales. We will grant a one-month exemption for every vehicle that goes through the USMCA,โ€ Trump said in a statement read aloud by Leavitt.

โ€œThe reciprocal tariffs will take effect on April 2. However, at the request of the companies that are associated with the USMCA, the president is granting them a one-month exemption so that they are not at a disadvantage economically,โ€ she added.

In contrast, Canada yesterday imposed a 25 percent tariff on all American products.
